A clarification about my last post, which clearly upset some people:
I love Cersei.
She’s one of my favorite characters in the story. However, she IS a bitch, and I love that about her. I simply feel like she is a bad match for Jaime. Please, don’t take my little spoiler as me hating Cersei, I really do adore her character.
I may be way off base here, but I think the problem is that there’s this common sentiment in fandom that you’re echoing and that is that Jaime is better than Cersei; that he needs to get away from her because she’s the one who makes him a bad person. I honestly don’t get where that comes from; just because Jaime’s nice to a few people and feels some remorse for some of his actions, doesn’t mean he’s any better than Cersei. At the very least, Cersei didn’t try to kill a child nor does she believe that that child had it coming. Her disdain and disregard for people outside of her family is quite apparent and she has done some terrible things, but so has Jaime, of his own free will. Cersei isn’t responsible for Jaime’s actions. Also, you mention that he needs to find a woman who will appreciate him for who he is and who he chooses to be…well, Cersei’s one of the only (if not the only) people who gets Jaime. If you want to be fair, you can say well, they’re both bad influences on each other…but this idea that Cersei’s a bitch and Jaime’s some kind of whitek night—whose goodness is being suppressed by his evil other half—is misguided.
